Vonnie French Looney (née McGlothlin; 4 May 1893 – 3 September 2003) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Vonnie Looney was born Vonnie French McGlothlin in Looneyville, West Virginia on 4 May 1893 to Jonathan D. McGlothlin and Fannie (née Reynolds) McGlothlin. She was married to Asbury Looney in 1913. The couple had four children. Her husband died in 1932. She was a homemaker most of her life except during World War II when she worked in Akron, Ohio assembling airplane parts for the military.

The daughters: Edith (1916–2018) lived to 102 and Fannie Emily (1918–2018) lived to 100 years. Her son, Asbury "Jack" (1914–2009) lived to 94 years. Her brothers: William (1897–1992) lived to nearly 95 years, Carl (1902–1995) lived to 92 years and Rufus Clyde (1906–1997) lived to nearly 91 years. Her sister, Bessie (1889–1989) lived to 100 years. Looney passed away on 3 September 2003 at the age of 110 years, 122 days. She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
