Vera Evelyn Price (16 December 1904 – 9 May 2015) was a British supercentenarian whose age is currently pending by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).


Vera Price was born in Bristol, England, UK on 16 December 1904. She later moved to Bishopston with her family. Members of her family had also experienced longevity: her mother Mary Elizabeth Bryant (18 June 1874 – December 1975) lived to be 101 and her great-grandmother lived to be almost 94.

She joined the Civil Service at 21. She was forced to leave when she married but her husband died when she was just 33. She was reinstated in the Civil Service in 1937, joining the Foreign Office.

She became a probation officer in London until she was 51 and ended up at the Treasury before retiring at 60. She came straight back to Bristol to nurse her mother.

In 2015, she appeared on television in BBC Two documentary Britain's Greatest Generation in which she spoke about her childhood experiences in Bristol during the First World War and even sang a song.

Vera Price died in Bristol, England, UK on 9 May 2015 at the age of 110 years, 144 days. She is survived by her niece Carole Jenkins (aged 74 in 2015).
