Ulis Elmira "Aunt U" Badley (née Hunt; 18 December 1896 – 30 January 2008) was a pending Jamaican supercentenarian.

Biography

Ulis Elmira Hunt was born in Half Way Tree (Kingston) St. Andrew, Jamaica on 18 December 1896. As a child she lived in Kingston. She was one of 12 children of Edward (1868-1976) and Anita Hunt (née Watt). Her father died at the age of 108. Her sister, Linda Mead was still alive in 2002 at the age of 90. Some of her siblings also died in their late 90s. She had fond memories of her father who taught her to play the piano.

Her mother died at a young age and her father was left to care for all his children. Her father lived in Cuba for a while. She remembered the earthquake of 1907 and said "It was a disaster. That earthquake was a very bad earthquake. Lots of people lost their houses. A lot of people lost their lives". During this earthquake her house came down and her father almost died during it. At the age of 30, Ulis left for New York where she worked in the garment industry.

Ulis was able to do the 'jitterbug' (kind of dance) at her 100th birthday party in 1996. She passed away on 30 January 2008 at the age of 111 years, 43 days.
