Tressa Bartholomew (née Epps; 30 March 1905 – 5 February 2017) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography
Tressa Myrtle Epps was born on 30 March 1905 in Carlisle, Warren County, Iowa to Albert and Bertha Epps. She married Grant Bartholomew on 24 December 1924 in Indianola, Iowa. They had 4 children: Newton, Mariglee, Avis and Joyce. She had 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 54 great-great-grandchildren.
She died on 5 February 2017 in Carlisle, Iowa.
On 1 Febuary 2017 she was verified by Gerontology Research Group as Iowa's oldest resident, the 7th oldest in the United States and the 44th oldest in the world.
In Tressa's lifespan she witnessed World War I, World War II, the sinking of the Titanic, the Great Depression, Pearl Harbor, the Moon Landing, among many other things. Theodore Roosevelt was the U.S. President when she was born in 1905 and she lived to see 20 U.S. Presidents in her lifetime.
