He was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, and died in Arnhem, Netherlands. He was verified by [[Guinness World Records]], however, the documents used to verify him have since been lost. At the time of his death, he was the oldest person ever at the age of 111 years 354 days, having surpassed [[Pierre Darcourt]] in age. It would be another 42 years until the next verified supercentenarian, [[Geert Adriaans Boomgaard]], also from the Netherlands. His age was not surpassed until [[Delina Filkins]], and he was the oldest man ever until [[Shigechiyo Izumi]] (unless he is discounted, in which case the next recordholder for oldest man ever is [[Mathew Beard]]).

Thomas Peters
Unvalidated

Thomas Peters (April 6, 1745 or March 6, 1745 — March 26, 1857)[1] was a Dutch supercentenarian and possibly the first supercentenarian on record, however he is currently unverified by the GRG. He was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, and died in Arnhem, Netherlands. He was verified by Guinness World Records, however, the documents used to verify him have since been lost. At the time of his death, he was the oldest person ever at the age of 111 years 354 days, having surpassed Pierre Darcourt in age. It would be another 42 years until the next verified supercentenarian, Geert Adriaans Boomgaard, also from the Netherlands. His age was not surpassed until Delina Filkins, and he was the oldest man ever until Shigechiyo Izumi (unless he is discounted, in which case the next recordholder for oldest man ever is Mathew Beard).

His wife was Theodora Reijnen, his parents' names were unknown.

It was previously thought his documents had been lost - however, his death certificate has been located.

Documentation has been located for him. A death certificate for his wife, Theodora Reijnen, has been found, with a death date of September 28, 1849, and stating she was 87 years old at the time, implying a birth date of 1762. A death certificate for a son, born in 1779, has been found, with a death date of 1724. In addition, a potential baptismal record for Mr. Peters, listed as Thomas Johannes Pieters and baptised on March 6, 1745, has been found. If that is the Peters who died in 1857, this would make him 112 years, 20 years old at the time of his death, making him the first person to have reached the age of 112.
