Tane Yonekura [Japanese: 米倉タネ] (2 May 1904 – 19 May 2018) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group. She was the oldest person in Kagoshima prefecture after the death of Nabi Tajima on April 21 2018.
Biography
Yonekura witnessed the 1914 Sakurajima volcanic eruption, the most powerful in 20th century Japan. She was 10 years old at the time.
On her 110th birthday, Yonekura was still walking with the help of a walker and exercised every day. She received a certificate for being the oldest person in Kagoshima City. She became the oldest person in Kagoshima Prefecture following the death of Nabi Tajima on 21 April 2018. She died on 19 May 2018 at the age of 114 years, 17 days. At the time of her death she lived with her daughter, Michiko.
