Shin Matsushita [Japanese: 松下しん] (born 30 March 1904) is a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group. She is the oldest living person in Miyagi prefecture and the second-oldest person in Japan behind Kane Tanaka.

Biography

Shin Matsushita was born in Japan on 30 March 1904.

On her 110th birthday, Matsushita was still living independently with her dog. One week before her 111th birthday, she was exercising her legs since she had a femur fracture. She has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and also great-great-grandchildren.

Matsushita was hospitalized at the end of May 2016 due to a bout of pneumonia and heart failure (citation needed), but was able to recuperate by June.

Matsushita currently lives in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. She celebrated her 115th birthday in March 2019, becoming the 11th Japanese person to do so. As of June 2019, she is the world’s third-oldest validated person behind Tanaka and Lucile Randon of France.
