Setsuko Moriyama [Japanese: 森山節子] (5 November 1907 – 1 March 2021) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Setsuko Moriyama was born on 5 November 1907 in Shuri, Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. She was the first daughter of Manabe and 昭補.[translation needed] In 1932, at the age of 25, she married Seikichi Uehara. They had three children: two daughters, Hiroko (1933-1944) and Kazuko (born 1938), and a son (born 1936). and Kazuko, was born. Hiroko died at the age of 10 in 1944.

In 2006, at the age of 99, Moriyama moved into a nursing home in Naha City, Okinawa. In November 2017, she celebrated her 110th birthday. In February 2021, her age was validated by the GRG. Moriyama died on 1 March 2021 at the age of 113 years, 116 days.
