Sallie Mae Cooley (née McDonald; born 8 December 1908) is an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is one of the oldest known living people in the state of Mississippi, USA.
Biography
Sallie Cooley was born as Sallie Mae McDonald in Clarke County, Mississippi, USA, on 8 December 1908. She was one of ten children born to George and Nan McDonald. She was baptised as a child at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. At a young age, she married her first husband Willie Simmons, with whom she had eight children. Later in her life, after Simmons’ death, Sallie married Curtis Cooley.
Cooley was a devout Christian throughout her life. At the time of her 109th birthday in 2017, along with her eight children, she had 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 58 great-great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-great-grandchildren. She became a supercentenarian in December 2018.
