Ruza Buncic-Sertic [Croatian: Ruža Bunčić-Sertić] (16 May 1893 – 4 October 2002) was a Croatian centenarian who was the oldest living person in Croatia, following the death of Jela Kranjcic on 9 December 2001, until her own death.

Biography

Ruza Buncic was born in Podlapaca, Lika-Senj County, Austria-Hungary (present-day Croatia) on 16 May 1893. In 1943, she moved to the village of Donji Andrijevci. She married Stjepan Sertic and had two daughters: Marica and Katica. At the age of 103, she had surgery on her hip. On her 109th birthday, she lived with her daughter, Marica.

On 9 December 2001, she became the oldest living person in the Croatia, following the death of Jela Kranjcic.

Ruza Sertic died in Donji Andrijevci, Brod-Posavina County, Croatia in the morning of 4 October 2002 at the age of 109 years, 141 days. At the time of her death, she had two daughters, 6 grandchildren (Spomenka, Renata, Cedomir, Zlatko, Visnja and Mandica), 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
