Rose Iacovone (née Bullaro; 9 May 1909 – 27 May 2020) was Italian-born American supercentenarian who is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Rose Iacovone was born in Villa Franca Sicula, Sicily, Italy on 9 May 1909 to Calogero and Maddalena Bullaro. She was one of seven children. Iacovone came to America as a little girl when her family settled in St. Louis, Missouri. When she was 9, they made their way to Greenwich Village, New York City. There she met the love of her life, her husband Vito “Willy” Iacovone. They had a son, Rocco. She worked as a seamstress and was a proud member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She lived in the Village until she was 99 years old, when she moved to a luxury building on 14th street. There, she found a whole new set of friends; and she was happy there for 7 years. At age 106, she moved in with Rocco and her daughter-in law, Denise. Rose spent another 5 years making even more friends.

Rose Iacovone died in New York City, New York, USA on 27 May 2020 at the age of 111 years, 18 days. At the time of her death, she had one son, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. In all those years, she never lost her sense of humor or her devotion to family.
