She worked as a teacher until she retired. She never married and had no children. For the last 30 years of her life, she resided in Hainfeld in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, where she lived in her own apartment even at 110.
On 9 April 2002, she became the oldest living person in Austria, following the death of Leopold Vietoris (who currently holds the record for oldest Austrian man). Broz died in Lower Austria on 4 June 2005 at the age of 110 years, 137 days. At the time of her death, she was the third oldest person ever from Austria. Following her death, Hermina Dunz took over the title of oldest living person in Austria.
