Ronnie Winston Fairbanks (20 May 1897? – 2 December 2009) was an American supercentenarian claimant, who claimed at the time of his death to be alleged 112 years, 196 days. If his claim was true, it would made him, at the time of his death the world's third-oldest living man, only behind Jiroemon Kimura and Walter Breuning, and the second-oldest man in the United States after Walter Breuning.
Biography[]
Ronnie Fairbanks claimed that he was born on a cattle ranch near Butte, Montana, United States on 20 May 1897. However, there are no records for a man with his name living there, making his case impossible to be validated. He was well known for his very long career as a criminal which began in 1928, and apparently continued into the 1980s, where he was arrested countless times for nonviolent crimes like theft and fraud. He apparently used over 70 pseudonyms throughout his life. He had given authorities no less than 21 different birthdates since the 1920s, with no indication that the 1897 birthdate he used in his later years is the right one. In 1988 he claimed that he was born on June 29, 1897. He was quite fit and was able to walk around, his vision and hearing were perfect, and he lived in his own house alone. He had no dementia and could name many of US Presidents.
Fairbanks died in Los Angeles, California, United States on 2 December 2009 at the claimed age of 112 years, 196 days.
