Romana de Sousa Marques (22 July 1908 – 15 June 2019) was a Portuguese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of death, she was the oldest known living person from Portugal.

Biography

Marques was born on 22 July 1908 in Faniqueira, Batalha, Leiria District, Portugal. She allegedly witnessed the Miracle of the Sun on 13 October 1917. Her son, Nuno Alvares Pereira, died during the Portuguese Colonial War in 1974. In 1998, she moved to the nursing home of "Lar Emanuel" in Leiria. At the end of her life, Marques lived in Gandara dos Olivais, Leiria.

Marques passed away in Marrazes, Leiria, Portugal, on 15 June 2019 at the age of 110 years, 328 days.
