Pedro Batista Layana (25 June 1909 – 7 March 2021) was a Cuban supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he may have been the oldest living person in Cuba.
Biography[]
Batista Layana was born in Juan Saez, Las Tunas Province, Cuba on 25 June 1909. He worked as farmer. He had four children: Josefa, Mulata, Dora, and Varon. His companion Brigida Perez died at the age of 101, some time before March 2021. He had many grandchildren (including Carlos Rafael Dieguez).
In June 2019, he celebrated his 110th birthday.
Batista Layana died in Cuba on 7 March 2021 at the age of 111 years, 255 days.
