Biography

Narcisa Olivarez Garcia was born in the town of El Rincon de Chavez in the Municipality of San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, on 29 October 1910 (claimed 24 October). She was a teenager when the Cristero War (1926–1929) broke out and even as a centenarian she was able to remember the order of the federal government, which was to depopulate ranches and hamlets sought to cut off the sources of food and supplies for the rebels. Her family had to move out of the ranch where she was born, Rincon de los Chavez, and walk to reach the city of San Miguel el Alto. As her mother was already a widow when then moved to the city, Olivarez Garcia also had to start working to support the family.

In 1929, she married Jose Gutierrez Perez and the couple had 8 children (3 of whom were alive in September 2020, all male). In October 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday.

Narcisa Olivarez Garcia died in San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, at the age of 110 years, 321 days.
