Nancy Merriman (née Mitchell) (19 December 1841 – 14 January 1954) was a pending American supercentenarian who may have been the oldest living person in the world at the time of her death.
Biography
Nancy Merriman was born in Mitchie, Illinois, USA, as Nancy E. Mitchell on 19 December 1841. She married Sylvester Merriman in the 1870s and had seven children together with him. She became a widow in 1916.
At the age 108 she was reported as still being up and doing chores around the house. Nancy Merriman may have been the first known black person to become a supercentenarian when she turned 110 in 1951.
Merriman outlived 6 of her 7 children. She died in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 14 January 1954, at the age of 112 years, 26 days.
