Michael DeSantis Sr. (May 26, 1899—December 3, 2009) was an American supercentenarian who may have been at his time of his death at the age of 110 years 191 days, the 4th oldest living man in the world and the 3rd oldest in the United States behind Garland Adair and Walter Breuning. His age was unverified his whole life until July 2013 when his case was partially verified and he is considered pending being on the Table EE of GRG. He may have been the oldest living person in the state of Ohio at the time of death.
Michael DeSantis was born in Charlieroi, Pennsylvania, USA, on 26 May 1899. His parents were Quinton and Angela Volpi DeSantis but moved to Italy as a child and returned back in 1911. He also fought in the the first World War aged 15 and lost his index finger and a part of his thumb on his right hand. He married Mary Pasquarella in October 1919 and had 6 children, out of which 5 were alive as of his 110th birthday aged 88, 83, 81, 77 and 80, he also had 21 grand-children, 33 great grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. He outlived one of his daughters, one great-great-grandson and 4 of his siblings. He was survived by his brother John who was 97 when he died and his sister-in-law Rose. DeSantis was a welder for Republic Steel for 38 years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, the Knights of Columbus and the Adua Lodge. Michael enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with the Hubbard Senior Citizens. At the time of his death at the age 110 he may have been the last surviving man born in 1899 in addition to being one of the last 4 men born in the 1800's.
Desantis died in Hubbard, Ohio, USA, on 3 December 2009 at the age of 110 years, 191 days.
