  • I've already asked persons to NOT put all the categories in the InfoBoxes, yet some of you aren't getting the message.

So, please take a week off and think about changing your editing habits here before returning.

    Thank you.

      I'm trying to send a "wake-up" warning.

There's a second reason that 'hiding' categories is a bad idea: then people try to add categories that are already there, because they don't see it where it normally is.

  • Greetings Mihael7,

Just wondering how 'hiding' categories makes the Gerontology Wiki more efficient:

    https://gerontology.wikia.org/index.php?title=Eliza_Carrows&diff=129734&oldid=120660

    • the categories are already compressed in the infobox, it isn't necessary to add them again, however they are not hidden you see them below the article.

      Regards

Here's the issue, though: it's more difficult to edit the Infobox than the categories in the main article.

  • Greetings,

You should NEVER be using Wikipedia as a citation for an update at the Gerontology Wiki. As the "encyclopedia that anyone can edit", anyone could simply make up a fake death. It is important to cite original sources when updating deaths.Ryoung122 (talk) 14:39, January 7, 2020 (UTC)

  • With my time on the wiki I've noticed that on the oldest living people's list  Thelma Sutcliffe DOB is noted as the 2nd of October 1906 but her article says the 1st of October 1906. I assume her article is correct and the oldest living people's list should be changed but I just wanted confirmation of which one is correct.

  • This is the Gerontology Wiki, not Wikipedia. We try to improve material first, not just delete. The Lu Zijan claim was covered in several media sources. You can find better references, not delete. The point of longevity claims isn't that they are believable. It's about what's out there in terms of claims in the gray area age range of 115-129. Also, you should separare edits so that if one thing gets reverted, the rest doesn't get undone.

It is again written in two different lines, namely:

      - Lv Zijan born November 22, 1893 from a source that would seem more reliable

      - Lu Zijan born October 15, 1893 with another source that I can not even open.

At the moment I leave everything as it is up to new sources more reliable, no problem on this, but i reiterate that I have not canceled the line for disfigurement, but to leave what seemed more reliable or "Lv Zijan" for the reasons that I already explained. For other clarifications I'm always here.

Part of this is because it was copied from Wikipedia about ten years ago, and some of these sources no longer exist. But it should be evident that a claim like this was made in the media. At most, you should label the case as "source needed".

Then you should reverse them, or find a citation. We don't see any citation indicating that this woman died.Ryoung122 (talk) 18:19, August 2, 2018 (UTC)

  • I blocked you one week for not following the Gerontology Wiki rules on punctuation, as you did on the List of Oldest Living Men article. This is an English-language WIKIA and so follows English grammar rules.Ryoung122 (talk) 16:29, February 2, 2018 (UTC)

    • ok, maybe you could even warm me first, as you already do with other when they make mistakes. Or should i think that there are privileged users (without naming names), compared to Others? Tell me, maybe i'm wrong.

      Yours sincerely

    • Nothing special, the most important thing is that the edits are made according to the wiki's rules and approved by the admins ;)

Thanks and have a nice evening!

  • According to Wikipedia and thus Wikia policy, blocks may be instituted to protect the integrity of the Wiki.'

Your recent edits, such as adding individual persons to categories intended to be for geographic units, were incorrect.

Please take a week to learn about the Gerontology Wiki before you resume editing.Ryoung122 (talk) 15:41, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

  • Please explain why you feel that we need "yet another" category about "births by US state".

We already have US births categorized by birth by US state...is there a need to re-say this another way?

Do you have some kind of organizational scheme whereby smaller categories lead into larger ones?

Also, you should not be "inventing" new categories...you should be asking Admins in regards to creating new categories as to whether it's a good idea or not.

Don't forget that we are looking for consistency across the Gerontology Wiki and if everyone just does their own thing, we won't have it.Ryoung122 (talk) 15:38, October 26, 2017 (UTC)

      Good evening,

taken note already by a week of the block, of which i apologize, i just wanted to tell you that i was a little offended by the speed (just about two minutes) whit which i was stopped, in the sense that you could give me a little time to clarify the thing and apologize already last week. That said, if you allow me to continue make only the necessary changes and nothing more, but i just ask not to be treated in the same way as a vandal. thank you.

Waiting for your reply i extend kind regards

Greetings, I realize that your errant editing was due to the learning curve. The one week off was intended to give you time to learn. Vandals get suspended for 1,000 years.Ryoung122 (talk) 04:18, November 4, 2017 (UTC)
