Mercedes Asuncion Brenes Estrada (born 15 August 1910) is a Nicaraguan supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She may be the oldest known living person in Nicaragua.
Brenes Estrada was born in Jinotepe, Carazo, Nicaragua, on 15 August 1910. At the age of 30, she married Manuel Lopez Mayorga, with whom she had 6 children (3 sons and 3 daughters). She has traveled to the United States and Costa Rica.
In August 2016, her 3 daughters were still alive: Maria, Rosario and Anita. Her daughter, Rosario de los Angeles Lopez Brenes, lived in Miami, Florida, but has visited her in Nicaragua on her 106th birthday. At that time, she also had 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also known as "Mayita". At the age of 106, she was able to read without glasses. In August 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
