Mary Evelyn Morrissey (née Murray; 4 December 1904 – 8 April 2015) was a Canadian supercentenarian whose age is currently pending by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is the oldest person ever who died in Prince Edward Island.
Mary Morrissey was born in Emyvale, Prince Edward Island, Canada on 4 December 1904. She had five siblings: four brothers Alfred, Leo, Lawrence and Mathias and one sister Bertha.
She taught in one-room schools, first in Fort Augustus and later in Emyvale. Later, she bought and ran a business called The Economy Grocery Store located on the corner of Kent Street and Hillsborough Street.
She married Walter Morrissey and had one son Leonard Morrissey (born c.1949). Walter died in a car accident in 1964.
She lived on her own in a Charlottetown apartment until the age of 95 before moving in to an assisted living facility.
Members of her family had also experienced longevity: two of her five siblings lived into their 90's and her brother Mathias Murray died a few months before his 100th birthday.
Mary Morrissey died in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada on 8 April 2015 at the age of 110 years, 125 days.
