Mary Coffey (20 March 1909 – 21 February 2020) was an American supercentenarian who is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Mary Coffey was born in Burgin, Kentucky, on 20 March 1909. When she was young, her family moved to Texas. Coffey wanted to become a lawyer. But back then most Southern women went to finishing school instead. So she married Otis Coffey, who was an educator from The University of Texas that enjoyed coaching. The couple had a son David,
As Otis went on to coach four Olympic track and field and boxing teams in Pakistan, as well as starting 15 commercial colleges, his wife went with him. She traveled around the world 18 times. She attributes her longevity to her strong Christian faith and being active in her church. On 20 March 2019, Coffey celebrated her 110th birthday at the Colonial Oaks Senior Living at First Colony in Sugar Land.
