Martha Jenetta Coleman (née Adams; 5 June 1905 – 18 June 2016), know as "Aunt Gallie", was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the second-oldest known person in Texas, at the time of her death

Biography

Martha Coleman was born in Travis County, Texas, USA on 5 June 1905, the sixth of 14 children. Her parents were Archie Adams, a farmer and Maria Adams. As a teen, she attended Anderson High School. But when when she was 16, her father became ill, so she quit school and took sewing jobs to help support the family. She married Andrew Coleman and had two sons. She was widowed died in 1997.

In April 2016, her niece Willie Mercer was 89 years, her grandniece (Mercer's daughter) Carrie Henderson was 69 years and her great-great-great-grandniece Breonna was 7 years. On 108th birthday, the Mayor of Austin Lee Leffingwell declared 5 June to be Martha Coleman Day. She lived at Blackland Neighborhood Center.

There was also a history of longevity in her family: her paternal grandfather William Burrell Adams lived to be 107, her mother lived to be 94, her sister Susie McDonald lived to be 101 and her sister Laura Hemphill lived to be 98/99.

Martha Coleman died in Austin, Texas, USA on 18 June 2016 at the age of 111 years, 13 days.
