Marie-Rose Dressay (née Carone; 1 August 1911 – 5 December 2021) was a French supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Marie-Rose Dressay was born as Marie-Rose Carone in Sete, Herault, Occitanie, France on 1 August 1911. Her son told: "She had a difficult childhood. Her father was absent. But she always has been satisfied of her life. She moved to Parisian region with her mother and her brother between the two wars."

Dressay began to work at age 14, after having obtained her primary school certificate. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several companies. After World War II, she spent 25 years working for the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War.

In the mid-1940s, she met her husband, Hubert Dressay, who came from Port-Navalo, in Arzon, Morbihan. They had their only child, Gerard, in 1946. In 1970, the couple moved to Port-Navalo, as they retired. They liked fishing and gardening.

In August 2002, being widowed, Dressay moved to the Foyer-logements (now residence Er Votenn Vras) in Arzon. On her 100th birthday in 2011, children offered her a bouquet of 100 roses. In December 2015, she participated to a old people meal. In August 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday.

Marie-Rose Dressay died in Arzon, Morbihan, Brittany, France on 5 December 2021, at the age of 110 years, 126 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in Brittany after Clemence Rioual, and the oldest known living person in Morbihan department.
