Biography[]

Early life[]

Marie-Louise Jeancard was born in Cannes, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France on 5 September 1876. She was the daughter of Leon Jeancard (1841–1904), a perfume industrialist, and Madeleine Gazagnaire (1844–1939). She had two brothers: Paul (1869–1948) and Henri (1872–1877).

When she was a child, the family of Jeancard's father, Leon, spent all the holidays with the family of her uncle (her father's brother), Joseph. That's how her cousin Pierre Jeancard fell in love with her. Even if his parents were reluctant, they married in Cannes on 20 October 1902. They had two daughters: Lucienne (1903–1986), and Raymonde (1912–2019), who died 12 days shy of her 107th birthday.

Jeancard was widowed in 1917, as her husband died of tuberculosis.

Later Life[]

At the age of 90, Jeancard discovered bridge; since then, she used to play it. In her last years, she celebrated the 100th anniversary of her communion.

In September 1988, Jeancard celebrated her 112th birthday by cracking open a bottle of champagne. She set up a meeting with her friends for the New Year's Day.
