Maria Smuga (née Jaszkiewicz; 4 October 1903 – 9 March 2015) was a Ukrainian-Polish supercentenarian whose age is unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Maria Smuga was born in Lviv, Austria-Hungary (present-day Ukraine) on 4 October 1903. In the end of the 1920s, she moved with her parents to the town of Milatycze. In the 1930s, she met her husband Stanislaw Smuga. The couple had five daughters Jadwiga Andrzejewska, Maria Wrozek, Zofia Wozniak, Irena Sienkiewicz and Marta Jaworska and one son Jozef Smuga (died in 2008). In 1958, her family returned to Poland. She was widowed in 1979.

In her 110th birthday, she had five living daughters, 22 grandchildren (the oldest was 56 and the youngest was 26), 42 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She never became seriously ill and treated common colds with only home remedies.
