Maria Simonis (5 January 1909 – 3 January 2020) was a Dutch supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography
Antonetta Maria Simonis, also known as Sister Antonetta, was born in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands on 5 January 1909. Simonis was the first supercentenarian nun from the Netherlands and thus the oldest Dutch nun ever. At the time of her death, she was the second oldest living person in the Netherlands behind Anne Brasz-Later.
Simonis was confirmed alive on 5 January 2019 by a government official and thus celebrated her 110th birthday. She passed away in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands on 3 January 2020, two days before her 111th birthday.
