Biography[]

Born on 26 July 1908, in Macaubas, Bahia, Dona Maria also presents her identity card to prove her age, which may mean that she is the oldest person in Campo Mourão.

She lives with a daughter and participates in the church, where the son-in-law is a pastor, in a room attached to the house. And Dona Maria Leonor does not miss a service, which is always celebrated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. "She likes to listen to the Word of God and sits on the first bench." On this 108-year anniversary in 2016, she said it was enough to just keep her life in God's hands. "The time that God wants to take me is good, I accept. But if it is to continue living in good health to be able to help my daughter, who has always looked after me, "she said.

Widowed for more than 40 years, she had 13 children, but only four are alive and the oldest is 80 years old. In these almost 110 years of life, she saw the family grow big, reaching today more than 60 grandchildren, about 50 great-grandchildren and more than a dozen great-great-grandchildren. Maria Leonor came from Bahia to Paraná in the early 1950s, when she lived in Araruna, Campina da Lagoa, and finally in Campo Mourão in the late 1970s.

Maria Leonor de Abreu died on July 12, 2019 in Campo Mourão at age 110 years, 349 days.
