Maria Diaz (née Rodriguez) (22 February 1898 – 29 October 2011) was an Algerian-French supercentenarian who was positively validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 7 July 2014.

Biography

Marie Isabelle "Maria Isabel" Rodriguez was born on 22 February 1898, in Sidi Bel Abbès, capital of the Sidi Bel Abbès wilaya, Algeria, then an overseas territory of France, located on the northern Africa continent. She died in Le Port, Réunion, a French island located in the Indian Ocean, on 29 October 2011, at the age of 113 years 249 days.

Maria Diaz is, behind Anne Primout and Marcelle Narbonne, the third-oldest Algerian person ever. Following the death of Eugenie Blanchard of Saint Barthelemy in November 2010, Maria Diaz was the oldest living person in France until her own death and was succeeded by Marcelle Narbonne.
