Marguerite Petit (née Poinsot; 3 July 1883 – 21 December 1995) was a French supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the second-oldest person in France at the time of her death, after Jeanne Calment, and the oldest from the present-day region of Grand Est.
Biography
Petit was born as Marguerite Poinsot in Lemberg in the department of Moselle, which was part of Alsace-Lorraine (and thus the German Empire) at the time of her birth on 3 July 1883. She later married.
Petit died in Bitche, Moselle, Grand Est, France, on 21 December 1995 at the age of 112 years, 171 days. Her age was verified by Jean-Marie Robine and validated by the GRG on 31 May 2002.
