Biography

Maggie Kidd, born as Maggie Katie Brown, claimed to have been born on 8 December 1904 in Stephens, Clayton County, Georgia, USA. Her age is validated with a birth date of 8 December 1905. She was the youngest daughter of 12 children to William and Lucy Brown. Her parents owned a farm in Stephens where the whole family was welcomed when they needed a place to live. Maggie continued this tradition when she took over the farm, offering a home to all of her relatives that needed one. She even helped raise her grand-niece.

On 30 November 1940, Maggie married Willie Kidd. They had two children, Rosalyn and John who continued to work on her parent's farm. Maggie and Willie worked on the farm until 1961, when she and Willie decreased the size of their farm and began gardening. Willie passed away in 1962 from complications due to diabetes. She lived on the same land until 1989. She said her long life was a blessing from God and attributes her farm life to her longevity. She also said her secret to looking young was to drink plenty of water because it helps the skin look beautiful.

Maggie Kidd died in Riverdale, Georgia, USA at the age of 113 (claimed 114) years, 212 days. At the time of her death, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. She was the oldest living resident of Georgia, and the 4th oldest validated living person in the USA behind Alelia Murphy, Hester Ford and Iris Westman.
