Lucile Randon (born 11 February 1904), known as Sister Andre, is a French supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group. She is the oldest living person in France and the second-oldest validated person in the world behind Kane Tanaka. She is also the 14th-oldest validated person ever.

Biography

Lucile Randon was born in Ales, Gard department, Occitanie on 11 February 1904, and has memories of World War I. She served as a governess and teacher in various houses. After World War II, she worked for 28 years at the Hospital of Vichy with orphans and elderly people.

Randon currently lives in Toulon, France.

Longevity Records

On 13 July 2017, Randon became the oldest living nun in the world following the death of 115-year-old Marie-Josephine Gaudette of Italy.[citation needed]

Randon became the oldest living person in France following the death of 114-year-old Honorine Rondello on 19 October 2017.

On 11 February 2019, Randon celebrated her 115th birthday, becoming the third person in the history of France to reach this age, after Jeanne Calment and Marie Bremont. On 26 March 2019, she surpassed Bremont’s age to become the second-oldest validated French person ever.

Following the death of 116-year old Maria Giuseppa Robucci-Nargiso of Italy on 18 June 2019, Randon became the oldest living person in Europe and the second-oldest living person in the world.

On 11 February 2020, Randon celebrated her 116th birthday, making her the second French person in history to do so (after Jeanne Calment). She is also the first nun to turn 116.
