Lucia Lauria (4 March 1896 – 28 June 2009) was a validated Italian supercentenarian, who was the oldest person in Italy since the death of the 111-year-old Maria Negri on 13 January 2007, and the oldest in Europe since the death of the 113-year-old Manuela Fernandez-Fojaco on 6 January 2009.

Biography

Lucia Lauria was born in Pietrapertosa, Basilicata, Italy on 4 March 1896. She had one daughter. Lucia never had serious health problems throughout her life, but she only had to deal with a gall bladder operation in 1953.

Lauria died in the same city where she was born on 28 June 2009 at the age of 113 years, 116 days.
