Lorna Best (née Warren; 4 July 1903 – 1 August 2014) was an Canadian supercentenarian who is currently pending by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known people in Canada when she died.
Lorna Best was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Canada on 4 July 1903 the first of five children of English immigrants Charles and Edra Warren. Her mother died from tuberculosis just days after she was born. One of her brothers died of Spanish flu in 1919.
She married Gilbert Best in 1928. The couple had two children: Warren Best (aged 78 in 2014) and Shirley Evans. Gilbert died at age 66.
She moved to a nursing home in 1981. She suffered a stroke in June 2014. In her later years, Best was a loyal Toronto Blue Jays fan who rarely missed a televised game. She had six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lorna Best died in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on 1 August 2014 at the age of 111 years, 28 days. At time of her death, she was the oldest person ever born in Manitoba.
