Laura Wright (15 June 1906 – 16 May 2018) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known person in South Carolina, USA, at the time of her death.

Biography

Laura Wright was born on 15 June 1906 in South Carolina, USA, to parents Joe and Ada Wright. She was the first of 11 children born to the couple. Laura never married nor had children. She was a teacher in Saluda County for over 40 years. As of her 111th birthday, she had a living 96-year-old sister, Anniebelle Chapelle.

Laura Wright passed away in Saluda, South Carolina, USA, on 16 May 2018, aged 111 years, 335 days. Her successor as South Carolina’s oldest known living person is Helen White (born 21 September 1906).
