LaVerne Bunney was born to Guy and Rose Batesole in Carrington, North Dakota, USA, on 15 April 1909. She was the oldest of seven siblings: four sisters and three brothers. The youngest brother is 18 years younger than Bunney and he was alive at the time of her 110th birthday.
Her husband, Robert Roy Bunney, also born in 1909. LaVerne was 19 when she and Robert Bunney were married in Minot, North Dakota. They moved to the Northwest and raised four children, three girls and a boy. Two daughters, Dolores and Darlene, have died. The Bunney family lived on Everett’s Wetmore Avenue, and later on Colby Avenue near what would become Everett Community College. Robert Bunney was 80 when he died in 1989. A roads engineer, he was a private contractor who worked on the Mountain Loop Highway, area bridges and other projects.
LaVerne Bunney lived in Brookdale Arbor Place, Everett, Washington from 2008 until her death. On Bunney's 110th birthday, two of her children were present: Bob Bunney, who was almost 90, and daughter Joan Oravetz, 81. Bunney died on 16 September 2019 in Everett, Washington at the age of 110 years, 154 days.
