Kvetoslava Hranosova [Czech: Květoslava Hranošová] (26 January 1910 - 20 January 2019) was a Czech centenarian who was the oldest living person in Czech Republic.

Biography

Early life

Kvetoslava was born on 26 January 1910 and grew up in the Ostrava, Austria-Hungary (present-day Czech Republic). She had two elder brothers. Her mother didn't worked due to muscle atrophy and her father, Otakar Micky, worked in storehouse in the mines. At the end of World War I, around 1917, she witnessed great poverty and turmoil in her native land, such as the looting of Jewish shops. She studied at the Institute for Education of Home Teachers in Opava. She baceme a teacher in 1931.

At her 22nd birthday, after her mother's death, she married her colleague, Jindrich Hranos. They were married for over 50 years. The couple had two daughters; Dagmar (born 1933) and Sarka (born 1937). The family later moved to Moravian Wallachia, where her husband worked.

Later life

In 1941, a report came about the arrest of her brother Milone, ​​who fought against the Germans. Firstly, he was imprisoned in Terezin, later transported to Dresden, where he was executed in the spring of 1942. Five weeks later, her second brother, Premka, is also arrested and executed. After the war, it was difficult for teachers to get a job. In 1950, she began teaching in Opava. Both daughters had been struggling with a complicated school because of their non-partisan parents.
