Karl Glöckner (December 29, 1845 - October 10, 1953) was a German centenarian and the last surviving German veteran of the Franco-Prussian War. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living man on Earth, at the age of 107 years, 286 days. He acquired the title upon the death of James Hard, himself the last surviving combat veteran of a war, in his case the American Civil War. His wife, Katerina, died in 1907.[1][2]
Upon his death, the title passed to Wayland Newell.
