Karl Glockner [German: Glöckner] (29 December 1845 – 10 October 1953) was a German centenarian and the last surviving German veteran of the Franco-Prussian War.

Biography[]

Karl Glockner was born in Germany on 29 December 1845. At the time of his death, he may have been the oldest living man on Earth, at the age of 107 years, 286 days. He acquired the presumed title upon the death of James Hard, himself the last surviving combat veteran of the American Civil War. His wife, Katerina, died in 1907.[1][2]

Karl Glockner died in Germany on 10 October 1953. Upon his death, the title may have passed to Wayland Newell.
