Edith "Judy" Ingamells (née Gude; 12 January 1894 – 1 March 2006) was a British supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group.

Biography

Edith Ingamells, nicknamed "Judy", was born on 12 January 1894 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. She moved to Enfield, London at the beginning of the Second World War, where she married a florist, Percy Ingamells. The couple had three children, all daughters.

After the war, Ingamells worked as a milliner. She lived in other areas around England before moving back to Enfield in 1990. She lived in a retirement home in Enfield for the past six years of her life. She died on 1 March 2006 at the age of 112 years, 48 days. At the the time of her death, Ingamells had five grandchildren, four great-grand children, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Longevity Records

Ingamells became the oldest living person in England following the death of 112 year-old Mary Ann Hebden on 30 November 2005. She subsequently became the oldest living person in the whole of the United Kingdom following the death of 113 year-old Scotswoman Lucy d'Abreu on 7 December 2005. Following Ingamells' death on 1 March 2006, Emmeline Brice became the UK's oldest living person.

Ingamells became the last surviving person in the UK born in 1894 following the death of Jerzy Pajaczkowski-Dydynski on 6 December 2005. The following day, after the death of Lucy d'Abreu, she also became the last surviving person in the UK born before 1895.
