Ellen Joyce Coates (born 27 October 1910) is a British supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Coates was born in Stonehouse, Stroud District, Gloucestershire, England, UK, on 27 October 1910. She had one sibling. Her father owned a cobblers shop and made and mended shoes for a living. She married Len, a farmer in Stonehouse, and the couple bought their own house, next door to Joyce’s parents home. The couple never had children. She has never been abroad, instead preferring Torquay (Devon, England) as her favourite holiday destination.
Her husband died in the late 1980s. In June 2008, Joyce moved to the Regency Retirement Home in Regent Street, Stonehouse. She claims the secret to her long life are her genes.
Coates currently lives in Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, UK, at the age of 113 years, 174 days.
