On 29 January 2018, four weeks after his 110th birthday, he became the oldest man in Spain following the death of 113-year-old [[Francisco Nunez Olivera]]. However, he wasn’t discovered by Spanish GRG correspondents until February 2018, so 109-year-old Domingo Parramon Cirera (1908–2018) was believed to have held the title.
