James Clifford Richardson (2 January 1905 – 29 April 2015) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Richardson claimed to be born on 2 January 1904 in Eufaula, Alabama, United States. His parents were Ollie and Lizzie Richardson. Richardson was the oldest of 11 siblings and grew up on his father's farm. While he claimed birth in 1904, research suggests he was a year younger. Richardson was a logger and worked in a saw mill. He had three wives and two sons, Andrew in Tennessee and Robert in Illinois. Richardson gardened and hunted until his eyesight started failing. In 2007, Richardson moved to the Parkwood Health Care Centerin in Phenix City, Alabama. Richardson claimed that the keys to his health included believing in God, treating people right, and never depending on prescription drugs. His third wife died in 2012 at the age of 97. In 2014, he had 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Richardson died on 29 April 2015 at the age of 110 years, 117 days. At the time of his death, he was the oldest man in the United States, excluding the cases of Wash Wesley and Andrew Hatch.
