Hyppolyte Cadou (16 August 1909 – 13 March 2020) was a French supercentenarian who is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Hyppolyte Cadou was born in Gros-Morne, Martinique, France on 16 August 1909. He was born as the fifth of seven children in the family (3 daughters and 4 sons). He started working at the age of 18, working as apprentice distiller in Habitation Saint-Etienne of Gros-Morne. Later, he worked as a mechanic and ended his career as an agricultural worker.

Cadou married the woman named Josephine, but had no children with her. After his wife died after a long illness, Cadou moved to Saint-Joseph (Martinique) and lived there for many years. For some time he lived with his brother in Riviere-Salee, and later returned to his hometown to live with his niece for over a decade.

On 30 March 2000, he moved to the retirement home of "OMASS - EHPAD Henri Bourgeois" in Le Lamentin. On 16 August 2019, he celebrated his 110th birthday. He is known by the nickname of "iteza".

Cadou died in Le Lamentin, Martinique, France on 13 March 2020 at the age of 110 years, 210 days. He was one of only two male supercentenarians from Martinique, the other was Jules Theobald.
