Centenarian

Hilton Walter Nunn (7 June 1909 – 17 October 2017) was a South African-born Australian centenarian who, at the time of his death, was the oldest living man in Australia and the last (known) surviving man in Australia born in the 1900s decade.

Biography[]

Nunn was born in South Africa on 7 June 1909. He married his wife, Amy Dulcie, on 7 July 1934 in Swaziland, and the couple had two sons, named Bobby and Harold respectively. They emigrated from South Africa to Australia in 1987, and later celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary in 2014. They were married for 82 years before Amy's death on 16 November 2016. On 30 April 2017, he became the oldest living man in Australia following the death of 108-year-old Alfred Powell, although his status as Australia's oldest man was never formally recognized until after his death.

Nunn died in Western Australia on 17 October 2017 at the age of 108 years, 132 days. His successor as the oldest man in Australia was Dexter Kruger (1910–2021) of Queensland.
