Henryk Kozubski (10 December 1911 – 4 February 2021) was a Polish centenarian, painter and social activist. At the time of his death, he was also the oldest known living man in Lesser Poland Voivodeship, the third-oldest known living man in Poland, after Stanislaw Kowalski and Arnold Leissler and the second-oldest known living Polish-born man, after Kowalski.

Biography

Henryk Kozubski was born in Biecz, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Russian Empire (now Poland) on 10 December 1911. In 1927, he moved to Wieliczka. In 1933, he graduated from the "Gimnazjum im. J. Matejki". At that time, he belonged to the scouting movement, until 1939 he was a troop of the Wieliczka Unit. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Jagiellonian University. After the World War II, he worked as employee of state farms and head of departments in enterprises.

He married Halina Taborska in 1950. The couple had two children: Hanna and Wojciech. He got widowed in 1971.

From 1954, he was a member of the Democratic Party (SD), for many years he was the secretary of the County SD Committee in Krakow. For 15 years, he was a councilor in the Poviat National Council in Krakow. For 18 years, he was the chairman of the Audit Committee of the Krakow Association "Wieliczka Friends Club", later he became its honorary member.

He retired in 1986, and for the next 10 years he was a councilor of the Municipal National Council in Wieliczka. In the 1980s, he became interested in painting. In 1984, he came up with the idea of ​​organizing cultural assemblies in the program of which there were painting exhibitions of high school professors and Kozubski's friends. He began to paint himself in 1995, but a year later his first painting exhibition was presented at the MDK in Wieliczka. The paintings of Franciszek Kozubski, his brother, were also exhibited at that time. Despite his advanced age, Henryk Kozubski still creates paintings. He specializes in landscapes and is the author of over 300 watercolors . His works have been exhibited at over 50 exhibitions in many Polish cities as well as in Germany, England and Ireland. For over 20 years he has been a member of the Wieliczka Art Club.

In 2017, on the occasion of his 106th birthday, the exhibition "Painted with Life" was organized, during which a film about he was made.

On 4 June 2019, he was visited by the GRG's Poland Correspondent Waclaw Jan Kroczek.

Henryk Kozubski died in Wieliczka, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland on 4 February 2021 at the age of 109 years, 56 days.
