Gustav Gerneth (born 15 October 1905) is a German supercentenarian who is, at the age of 118 years, 186 days, Germany's oldest living person since the passing of Herta Oeser in March 2016 and Germany's oldest living man since the passing of Paul Veit on 21 March 2013. He is currently unverified.

Biography

Gerneth was born 15 October 1905 in Stettin in todays Poland, where he was trained as machinist and started his carrer by seafaring in 1924. On New Years Eve 1930 he met his later wife Charlotte who died in 1988. The couple raised 3 sons and Gerneth retired in 1965. 

At the time of his 110th birthday he was the seventh man from Germany to become a supercentenarian. He outlived all his sons, being in their 80s, at age 109. Unti age 107 he purchased everything on his own. Later his family organized this but Gerneth was still able to take care of himself, for example cooking and tyding up. Becoming a supercentenarian he was reported to live still on his own in Havelberg, inhabitating the same appartement for more than 40 years.
