Giovanni Quarisa (24 August 1909-21 Mar 2020) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Giovanni Quarisa was born in Pieve del Grappa, Veneto, Italy on 24 August 1909. He worked as a policeman. He was married and had at least two children, daughters Vilma and Mirella.

Quarisa enlisted in the Italian army in 1929. In 1941, he went to fight in World War II, fighting in Spalato, and spending the years of 1943-45 as a prisoner in Dubrovnik (Independent Croatian State, now in Croatia). After the war finished, he walked back to Italy.

On 11 July 2019, after the death of Salvatore Cavallo of Piedmont, Quarisa became the oldest living man in Italy. He celebrated his 110th birthday in August 2019. At that time, he had 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He Died in Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, Italy on March 21, 2020, at the age of 110 years, 211 days.
