Gerrit Bovendorp (3 February 1912 – 2 May 2020) was a Dutch centenarian who was the second-oldest living man in the Netherlands (after Eelke Bakker) at time of his death.
Biography
Gerrit Bovendorp was born in 't Loo, Gelderland, Netherlands on 3 February 1912. He worked as a blacksmith, truck driver and was also in military service, where he repaired vehicles. In 1941, he married Johanna van Hattum. Together, they had two daughters and a son, of whom only one daughter still lives. With Johanna, he regularly visited many churces across the Netherlands, which was her favorite activity. Johanna died in 2003.
Bovendorp lived independently in Wezep until July 2019, when he fell and moved to a care home in Elburg.
Bovendorp died in Elburg, Gelderland, Netherlands on 2 May 2020 at the age of 108 years and 89 days.
