Centenarian

Frieda Binz-Schoch (10 January 1908 – 28 December 2017) was a Swiss centenarian who, at the age of 109 years, 352 days, was the oldest living person in Switzerland following the death of Helene Stehle on 27 August 2017 until her own death four months later.

Biography

Frieda Binz-Schoch was born in Switzerland on 10 January 1908. When the First World War broke out, school time began for Frieda Binz-Schoch in Thun. From the Lerchenfeld to the Aarefeld school house was a long way.

In 2017, Mrs. Binz-Schoch lived at nursing home Tilia Schönberg on the outskirts of Bern. She sometimes recalls old memories, but what was happening at the moment she usually forgot immediately.

Frieda outlived almost all of her family, including two of her children. A son died a few years ago, the second in 2015. She had four grandchildren - and six great-grandchildren. With the modern technology, the woman was quite familiar. She worked as a telephone operator, when the medium was complicated, expensive, and only a few were accessible. She spoke English, French and Italian.

Later, she worked in the patent office, and still far beyond the retirement, she was a flexible worker, who intervened when someone was sick. She was always known in the case of calls, who is responsible for the topic in the house. with her father, Frieda went on mountain tours, on one she met her future husband, who had already died more than half a century ago. Even as an inquisitor, she spontaneously undertook a mule-walk, which led her to a height of 3200 meters. She forgot to sign off with her family in Burgdorf, who desperately tried to reach her in her house in the mirror.

Frieda Binz-Schoch died on 28 December 2017 in Bern, Switzerland, at the age of 109 years, 352 days. Her successor as Switzerland’s oldest person is Alice Schaufelberger-Hunziker, who was one day younger.
